World Hindi Day 2018 held at USSH

On January 10th, the USSH VNU-HCM and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City successfully co-hosted the World Hindi Day 2018 in celebration of Hindi winning recognition as the official language of India.

The World Hindi Day 2018 welcomes distinguished delegates and international partners. On the host side, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen - USSH’s President; Dr. Ho Minh Quang - Dean of Faculty of Oriental Studies and representatives from other departments and faculties attended the event. Joining the celebration, there were also international guests, including Dr. K. Srikar -   Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Jasem MaMa Abomazouq -   Second Secretary of the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait; Mr. Huynh Minh Thien - President of HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations; Mr. Nguyen Van Manh - Vice President cum General Secretary of HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations and more than 200 students

  

Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of USSH VNU-HCM stated the significance of Hindi as part of world’s language and culture  “Hindi symbolizes for globalization while not only reinforcing the specific features of Indian culturebut also simultaneously spearding its values to the world. Rooting from India-Aryan of Europe-India’s language branch, Hindi has developed and connected closely to history of India Peninsula, absorbed and reserved the unique Indian culture. Hindi has also been enriched byvalues of the other cultures and civilizations. The Hindi speakers, therefore, can suitably adapt the language in various cultural and geographical spheres”. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen also highlighted the significance of World Hindi Day in enhancing the mutual understanding among countries and the global cultural integration in the narrowing world.

On this occasion, Mr. Srikar Reddy - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City shared the message from Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on The World Hindi Day.

At the event, many Hindi-Vietnamese Dictionaries were presented to all delegates. The dictionary is compiled by Prof. Sadhna Saxena and Mr. Pham Dinh Huong, alumni of Faculty of Indian Studies with the sponsor from  Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. The dictionary is a valuable source for learning and researching on Hindi and Indian culture.
