The USSH’s graduate programs are the most rigorous in the field of social sciences and humanities in Southern Vietnam. The USSH currently offers 13 PhD programs and 26 master’s programs.
The programs offer students access to distinguished faculty and ample opportunities to participate in numerous conferences, both locally and internationally. The graduate degree programs are housed at No. 10-12 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, District 1, HCMC.
Doctoral programs
Doctoral programs educate graduates to have a deep analytical knowledge in their fields. Programs are also designed with an aim to provide students with a highly intellectual capacity of independent research, discovery and analysis of novel issues with high scientific and technological values.
Doctoral program lengths for those who have a master’s degree in a related field are normally 3-4 years and for those who have undergraduate degree in the same field are 5 years to complete.
Graduate entrance exams are administered in May and October every year.
Doctoral programs comprise Linguistics, Comparative and Contrastive linguistics, Vietnamese literature, Literature Analysis, Vietnamese History, World History, Ethnic studies, Archeology, Philosophy, Cultural Studies, Russian Linguistics, Environment and Natural resources management, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism.
Master ‘s Degree Programs
The programs are aimed at helping student to have solid theoretical knowledge, and possess a good grasp of practical cognition. They also enable students to do original research independently. Besides, students know how to discover, analyze and address issues in related fields.
Master’s program length is normally 2 years. Graduate entrance exams are administered in May and October every year.
Master’s programs include Vietnamese Literature, Foreign Literature, International Relations, Vietnamese History, World History, History of Vietnamese Communist Party, Education Management, Russian Linguistics, Public Policy, Environment and Natural Resources Management, Library and Information Science (LIS), Scientific Socialism, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Cultural Studies, Ethnic Studies, Anthropology, Linguistics, Philosophy, Archeology, Sociology, Asian Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Geography, Urban Studies, and Archival Studies.
